#BLMproductspotlight #budsorganics #teethingmonsters

Buds Oralcare Organics are specially formulated toothpastes that are ultra mild, safe and effective in preventing tooth cavity and maintaining good oral health for every stage of your child’s development.

What makes Buds Oralcare Organics special?

1. It is preservative-free, so safe if the toothpaste is swallowed!

2. It takes a balanced view on the use of Fluoride in toothpaste, while still providing an alternative should you feel your child is not ready to use fluoridated toothpaste.

3. It harnesses the latest scientific findings on the effectiveness of plant actives in oral care to develop this special range of toothpastes that is effective, safe and mild.

a) Aloe vera in tooth gels is used to cleanse and soothe teeth and gums, and is as effective as fluoridated toothpaste to fight cavities, according to the Academy of General Dentistry’s (AGD) clinical, peer-reviewed journal.

b) Phytic acid shows an important affinity for hydroxiapatite, forming a uniform layer that strongly inhibits dissolution of hydroxiapatite crystals, and acts as:

– an inhibitor of the formation of oral plaque
– an inhibitor of cariogenesis
– an inhibitor of enamel dissolution

A combination of these plant actives with natural Xylitol and Fluoride makes the toothpastes very effective in fighting against tooth cavity.

Not only that, it also tastes great! I know cos I tasted all flavours before giving to my kids haha.

POTW: Buds Organics Calming Rub Cream

Last week, we had several enquiries from parents about the Buds Organics Calming Rub Cream for their little ones who were having tummy discomfort, mostly colicky babies.

The Calming Rub Cream containers natural ingredients that are known to ease tummy discomfort, ingredients that you and I are familiar with: ginger, peppermint and fennel.

It also contains lavender to soothe your baby. Not only that, it contains aloe vera and portulaca extract to boost your baby’s skin health.

It is the one cream that allows you to safely massage into your baby’s skin. Just a little dab on your finger tips and you can rub it into your baby’s tummy, massaging it to ease colicky symptoms.

You can find it here: https://biglittleme.com/product/buds-calming-rub-cream/

Little Innoscents Vapour Balm

Not fun to start the week with a snotty 1 year old. Mucus galore, that irritates the toddler’s back of the throat and hello cough.

What do we reach for next? Sterimar, Iladin and that familiar chest rub in the medicine cabinet. The one that contains petroleum jelly.

Petroleum jelly is a byproduct of petroleum and can create the illusion of moisturized, hydrated skin. It has water-repelling properties and is not water-soluble (you will find that it is difficult to wash off your hands and require a fair bit of soap to remove it). This water-repelling property helps to seal a barrier so that moisture do not leave the skin.

Well, it doesn’t feel like something I would want to apply on my toddler’s skin.

We were quite happy when we tried the Little Innoscents Vapour Balm.

Firstly, it doesn’t contain petroleum jelly. It is oily but it washes off easily under water and a small blob of soap.

Secondly, it smells awesome. It is not too spicy and is soothing whether as a chest rub or a massage balm. The kids sometimes want a massage and I’ll apply some of the vapour balm to help calm them before bedtime. It has worked so well for us to ease their blocked noses and cough too!

Thirdly, it is suitable for newborns. When my second and third child were born, they did catch a cold when they were a few weeks old, no thanks to their older brother who would ‘generously’ share his germs with his siblings. Really thankful to have something that I could easily apply on the then babies to ease their discomfort!

Little Innoscents Winter Blues Vapour Balm

Starting with Little Innoscents

Our organic skincare journey started with Little Innoscents.

It was through this brand that we learnt about sodium lauryl sulfate, or rather the lack of it in their products. Their hair & body wash had NO BUBBLES then. The horror! I had happily squirted a long..strand into the bath tub only to see it floating around. ?

But I learnt that no bubbles doesn’t mean not clean. My kid came out of the bath squeaky clean AND with moisturised skin post drying.

Whaaa…?

I learnt that it takes time with organic and natural products. What may take a diaper cream with chemicals 1 day to heal a diaper rash, may take 1 week for an organic product. It is a matter of preference and patience. For us, it usually resolved significantly by day 4. I can wait 4 days.

I learnt about the various types of oils, base/carriers and other plant ingredients used for each product. Aloe vera juice, beeswax, shea butter, calendula, your very common ingredients used for most natural skincare product.

Steep learning curve for us. And we never stopped scrutinising ingredient labels from then on.

And going organic? Little Innoscents Organic Baby Skin Care range of products is Australian made & owned, and contains over 85% Australian Certified Organic ingredients.

Will share more about each product soon!

How the organic journey started

The start of it all.

With my first child, the worst we had to face when we had to deal with inflammed skin condition, was a bad nappy rash. Being kancheong first time parents, we went straight for a popular non-organic brand I mean..everyone used it so can’t be bad right?

The rash cleared up in a day. So win.

Then came our second child, who didn’t have baby smooth skin at all right from birth. ‘Chor-puay’ or rough skin we would say. And it was the start of it all, us switching to organic skin care for our kids.

And also how we started Big Little Me, in a bid to share what we knew and what helped us along the way. We curate our products and are selective about what we bring in. As much as we would love to bring in a wider range, there is only so many products we can try on ourselves! Haha.

Yes, we personally try each of the products we have so that we can better explain to you how they work. How they feel, how they smell and how we react to it.

We are not experts in the field of skincare but hopefully, through this, it would allow you to better understand what you are about to try and how it may work for yourself or your little ones. Understand the values behind the brands that develop and formulate these skincare products (all got heart one ok!! ?).

If you have had a great experience using our products, do share them with us! We would love to hear from fellow daddies & mummies who use these regularly! ? These feedback, good or bad, will serve as every bit of an encouragement for us!
