9 years later, I'm no millionaire (I wish!), but t 9 years later, I'm no millionaire (I wish!), but the business has grown, not in monetary value, but in more intangible ways, the friendship, the community of support, and network forged along the way, the knowledge attained. And that is something I can't put a price on. Thankful for the encouragement, the insights to your lives, the little moments that you share on social media. Thankful for the mentorship from fellow business owners. Omg even after so long, I feel like a noob okay. I'm not a big risk taker! I love trying out new products, sharing the benefits of it that could help someone. I love making new friends, new acquaintances, hearing the phone notification go off cos someone bought something (yay!) - that's the really cool part of the job. What goes on behind the scene that is unseen is me scheduling this post at 12.40am in the morning for it to go live at 8.30am, so I can go supermarket shopping whilst hoping that other parents get to read it after their morning school drop off πŸ˜†; or me designing this post 2 days ago, figuring out how I could share this and hopefully encourage some moms, yet providing some realities to what it is like to run a business. Inventory, accounts, marketing (Canva is your best friend πŸ˜†) and yes, at the end of the day, closing that sale. Some of us are more aggressive, some of us are more passive. No right or wrong, it's just the way we want to move ahead. For me, the kids still end up being a priority, but slowly, as they grow older, I have a bit more time on hand to manage this business. For now, the home, meals and kids end up coming first. And it means a really slow gradual growth of the business. No rush! I usually use my kids and personal experiences to share about the products. And the customers come to know about the 4 rascals I have, the qns of why and how comes in. Because some of you are considering starting a little business. After 3 years of being a SAHM to 2 kids, I started the biz out because of self worth. I felt I lost an identity. There were self-doubts about my contribution to the family, because what I was contributing was mostly intangible. The business allowed me to regain some form of control in my life, added more self-doubts about whether products will sell πŸ˜†, worries about life choices cos of the money involved but hey, it allowed me to look forward to another 'lifestyle' away from the kids. Albeit with some flexibility to still look after the kids. A huge learning curve to manage home and business and then more, cos err, more kids. And a lot of balancing out what exactly the priorities were. πŸ™ˆ cos there is always the kids that come first. We are never ready for stuff like that. And we wouldn't make un-informed choices.
